Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are a class of medication called GLP-1 medications. GLP-1 medications helps control hunger by making you feel full longer after eating less, and are significantly more effective than diet & exercise alone!

You may have heard of Semaglutide from its massive success in weight loss across Hollywood, social media, and even people you may know! Semaglutide may also go by other names, including Ozempic, Rybelsus, and Wegovy. 

Semaglutide was originally used for diabetics under the brand name Ozempic® to control blood sugar levels. In June 2021, the FDA approved Semaglutide for weight loss under the brand name Wegovy®. Since then, it has blown up worldwide for its successful results!

Semaglutide mimics a health-promoting, naturally occurring peptide in the body (GLP-1). Studies have shown it reduces appetite, improves control of eating, and reduces food cravings, in addition to improving blood sugar control. It works best with personalized lifestyle changes. Semaglutide speeds up the weight loss process for many patients. 

Tirzepatide is the new weight loss medication to hit the center stage. Tirzepatide also goes by the trade name monjuro. Tirzepatide is another GLP-1 RA, but it also has a dual action as it simultaneously acts on the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor. GIP is another hormone involved in regulating blood sugar levels after eating. By targeting both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, tirzepatide is designed to provide more potent blood sugar control. Semaglutide and Tirzepatide work in similar ways to reduce appetite. But Tirzepatide  is what’s called “dual-agonist” drugs while Semaglutide is  what’s known as “single-agonist” drugs. These drugs activate important hormone pathways in the body.

We prescribe the generic forms  Semaglutide, and Tirzepatide combined with a small dose of Vitamin B12. This allows us to be able to offer these cutting edge weight loss medications at a fraction of the cost of retail pharmacies. . 

We use an FDA-regulated compounding pharmacy that adheres to strict cGMP guidelines and conducts third-party lab testing to ensure our medications are sterile, stable, potent, and safe for use. 

We start all of our patients off at a lower, compounded dose for the first month and then increase the dosage for the second and third months, respectively. Our compounded medication also includes Vitamin B-6 to help with some of the potential side effects.

The most common side-effect of Semaglutide and tirzepatide  is nausea and possibly other digestive issues. 

For your first month, we will start you at a lower dose  to allow your body to get used to the medication. We typically increase incrementallyeach month is necessary to maintain results, but minimize negative side effects. The goal is for you to lose a few pounds a week with no nausea.

Type-1 diabetes (an auto-immune condition)
